Espigas nos cães (praganas): como proteger o seu companheiro durante os passeios de verão

Grass seeds in dogs (foxtails): how to protect your companion during summer walks

Summer brings longer days, long walks, holidays and plenty of outdoor adventures.

It is, without a doubt, one of the best times of the year for those who enjoy exploring new paths with their dog.

But there is one detail that many owners end up forgetting.

Grass seeds (foxtails).

Small, apparently harmless, but capable of causing quite serious problems when they come into contact with our dogs.

And if you have never gone through this, we sincerely hope it stays that way.

Because anyone who has already experienced an urgent trip to the vet because of a grass seed knows how it can all happen in a few seconds.

Why are grass seeds so dangerous?

During the warmer months, grasses dry out and release seeds.

The problem is that these small structures have a shape that allows them to move forward easily, but makes the way back very difficult.

When they get stuck in the fur or enter the dog's body, they can continue to penetrate the skin or natural channels, causing pain, inflammation and, in many cases, requiring veterinary intervention.

The most affected areas are usually:

  • Ears
  • Nose
  • Paws
  • Eyes
  • Armpits and other areas of denser fur

Some breeds, especially those with long ears, end up being even more exposed during walks.

Prevention remains the best care

We cannot always completely avoid contact with grass seeds.

But there are small habits that make a huge difference.

After every walk, it is worth setting aside a few minutes to observe your dog.

Check their paws, the inside of their ears, their nose and the rest of their fur, especially if you have walked in areas with dry vegetation.

The sooner you identify a problem, the simpler it will be to solve it.

You can also opt for routes where the vegetation is more controlled and prevent your dog from crossing areas with very tall grass during this time of year.

That is precisely why the Pajé Mesh Snood was created

When we started developing the Mesh Snood, the goal was never just to create another accessory.

We wanted to respond to a real need that many owners face during walks.

Especially those who live with long-eared dogs.

The Mesh Snood helps keep the ears against the head during walks in areas with vegetation, reducing direct exposure to grass seeds, branches and other elements that easily get stuck in the fur.

At the same time, because it is produced in breathable mesh, it remains comfortable even on hotter days.

It is important to say that the Snood does not completely eliminate the risk nor does it replace vigilance or other preventive care.

But it can be an excellent ally during summer walks, especially for more susceptible dogs.

More than an accessory

At Pajé we like to create products that make sense in everyday life.

Not just because they are pretty.

But because they can make the lives of dogs and their owners a little more comfortable and peaceful.

The Mesh Snood was born from that exact philosophy.

From observing real needs, listening to our community and looking for solutions that accompany the moments we most love to live with our dogs.

Because the best walks are those where the only concern is enjoying the path.

And, whenever possible, we want to help make it exactly like that.
